Perched at an elevation of approximately 3,056 meters above sea level, Gorson Bugyal is an expansive, undulating grassland located just 3 kilometers beyond the renowned ski resort of Auli in the Chamoli district. Surrounded by dense forests of oak, pine, and rhododendron, this pristine meadow offers awe-inspiring panoramic vistas of prominent Himalayan peaks including Nanda Devi, Trishul, Chaukhamba, and Dronagiri.
The landscape of Gorson Bugyal undergoes a dramatic transformation across seasons. During the spring and summer months, the meadow comes alive with vibrant wildflower carpets and lush green pastures, creating a serene haven for nature lovers and photography enthusiasts. In winter, the entire pasture converts into a vast blanket of snow, drawing winter trekkers and snow enthusiasts from across the country.
The trek to Gorson Bugyal begins at the upper station of the Auli Ropeway and passes through the peaceful Paddar Forest before opening out into vast high-altitude pastures. Thanks to its gentle gradients and short distance, it stands as one of the most accessible and beginner-friendly alpine treks in the Garhwal region.
