About Valley of Flowers
Valley of Flowers National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, perched at an altitude of 3,658 meters. Renowned for its meadows of endemic alpine flowers and diverse flora, this vibrant valley is nestled in the transition zone between the Zanskar and Great Himalaya ranges.
Best Time To Visit
The valley is open to visitors from June 1 to October 31. The best time to visit is from July to August, just after the monsoons start, when the flowers are in full bloom and cover the landscape like a colourful carpet. June is early, and by September the flowers start withering.
How To Reach Valley of Flowers
Travel to Haridwar or Rishikesh, then drive to Govindghat or Pulna (approx. 290 km). From Pulna/Govindghat, undertake a 10 km trek to Ghangaria (the base camp). From Ghangaria, a further scenic 4 km trek leads to the entrance of the Valley of Flowers. Helicopter shuttles also operate from Govindghat to Ghangaria.

Do we need a permit to visit Valley of Flowers?
Yes, a forest department entry permit is required and can be obtained at the entry checkpost at Ghangaria. The permit is valid for 3 days.
Can we stay inside the Valley of Flowers overnight?
No, camping or staying overnight inside the national park is strictly prohibited. All visitors must return to Ghangaria base camp by 5:00 PM.
